Ever wonder if an email newsletter is a good idea for your small business? Is there still people that check email on a regular basis in todays techy world? Social media is definitely the rave but a monthly or weekly newsletter can still be a vital cog in your marketing strategy to get people thinking about your business. I read an article recently(https://kangomedia.com/5-reasons-local-business-needs-email-newsletter/) that gave me several great tips for why and how to create a newsletter.
The main points I took away:
1. Email is still king.
82% of people who have email check their account at least once on a daily basis. Also, there are 2.6 billion email users vs. 1.7 billion Facebook users. In order to have most social media apps, you have to have an email account to begin with.
2. Permission to advertise
If people subscribe to your email newsletter, they are giving you permission to advertise to them. Do not send it out to a mass email group but only to your group that gives you permission. They would be the people that would more then likely support your newsletter and also recommend it and pass it on to interested parties.
3. Cheap and drive sales
Email is a cheap way to connect with your customer base. According to Convince and Convert, 44% of recipients made a purchase from a promotional email sent out.
For me in the Assisted Living world, I think this would be a great way to connect with the families of residents to let them know what is going on at our facility and invite them to become more involved. It is fun for our residents and staff when families come and join us. We have game days, sing-a-longs, baking days, craft days and more. Now to put it together and see what happens. Till next time…
